Doing WhatsApp properly, so your number stays safe.
WhatsApp has rules, and so does South African law. We build every journey to follow both, so you can message customers with confidence.
POPIA in plain English.
- You may only send marketing to people who agreed to receive it.
- You ask once, and you keep a record of their answer.
- Every marketing message must give people a way to opt out.
- Staying quiet, or not opting out, is not the same as agreeing.
Customers who bought from you before can get offers about related products or services, as long as they can opt out every time.
This is general information, not legal advice.
How WhatsApp's own rules work.
The 24-hour window.
After a customer messages you, you can reply freely for 24 hours.
Templates.
Outside that window, your messages must use templates that Meta has approved.
Different prices.
Marketing, utility and service messages are charged differently.
Your quality rating.
It drops if people block or report you, so we keep every message wanted and relevant.
Official only.
We use the official WhatsApp Business API, never unofficial tools that get numbers banned.
Consent is built into every journey.
- It's asked for once, in the chat, with a clear button.
- The answer is saved on the contact's record, with the date.
- Replying "STOP", or tapping an opt-out button, removes them from marketing immediately.
- Service messages, like bookings and reminders, carry on, because the customer asked for them.
